"This is why we build into our teaching an insecurity or instability that will always remain as a means to keep our students questioning, grappling, trying to make sense, taking separate stances, etc because it is a teaching that supports your evolution, and is not meant to provide comfort and sanctuary."

I have been thinking about this statement alot recently.

I find a certain amount of comfort in the uncertainty.  It is comforting to know that there is no judgement waiting when you die.  That there is always "time" to try again.  That even if you "screw up" a life, it is not a "wasted" life.

It is just comforting to know doubts and questions are not only okay, but encouraged.  I find that freedom comforting.

Actually, this really captures something I've noticed about Michael's replies to questions I ask them - I get the feeling they know a lot more about me and whatever circumstances I'm talking about, than they explicitly let on. Yet they will only explicitly tell me as much as I need to know to see what I need in order to choose for myself. Some insecurity there as they're not telling me *everything* - but that I need to choose for myself to evolve.

I'll be the first to admit that I love comfort, sanctuary and warm and fuzzies, though  :-)

Ah, yes, and the correlation to TRUTH, LOVE and ENERGY:

Buddha = TRUTH

Dharma = LOVE

Sangha = ENERGY

...just like Michael broke-down the Christian trinity in one of our workshops:

"Religions are built through personifications, and these forces of Truth, Love, and Energy are personified in Christianity as "The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost," respectively.

[MEntity] It could be applied in even more abstract ways, such as Jesus = Truth, Jesus' Teaching = Love, Resurrection = Energy/Beauty."

I think what Michael does is teach us how to find comfort within ourselves, and not some external source.

Good points guys.

I realized what I was vaguely inspired by when I made my earlier comment.... the Three Jewels of Buddhism (copy and pasted from wikipedia):

The Three Jewels, also called the Three TreasuresThree RefugesPrecious Triad, or most commonly the Triple Gem(त्रिरत्न (triratna)) (Palitiratana), are the three things thatBuddhists take refuge in, and look toward for guidance, in the process known as taking refuge.

The Three Jewels are:

Sanskrit, Pali: The Enlightened or Awakened One; Chn: 佛陀, Fótuó, Jpn: 仏, Butsu, Tib: sangs-rgyas, Mong: burqan
Depending on one's interpretation, it can mean the historical Buddha (Siddharta) or the Buddha nature —the ideal or highest spiritual potential that exists within all beings;
Sanskrit: The Teaching; Pali: Dharmam, Chn: 法, , Jpn:, Tib: chos, Mong: nom
The teachings of the Buddha, the path to Enlightenment.
Sanskrit, Pali: The Community; Chn: 僧, Sēng, Jpn: , Tib:dge-'dun, Mong: quvaraɣ
The community of those who have attained enlightenment, who may help a practicing Buddhist to do the same. Also used more broadly to refer to the community of practicing Buddhists, or the community of Buddhist monks and nuns.[1]

Maureen -- I can attest to the evolutionary principle of learning. "One can only ask questions of the world of information based on the knowledge that one already has." This caveat was stressed repeatedly in one of my Library School Collection Development classes. This is why we have materials aimed at or targeting different levels of knowledge. It's also why, I think, that I've stopped discussing Michael with non-Michael students.

I don't have a beginner's level of information readily at hand. Whatever I say is confusing and complex as it includes a wide spectrum of things Michael has said. Nothing is quite as simple as the elementary teachings of Role and Overleaves. Also, I expect "my readers," to have a certain level of knowledge or at least a willingness to do the research to learn more in order to understand. That's the true purpose of including links -- it's not just attributing the source material to someone else, but it's the larger version of explanation.

When I made the observation, "Every answer generates new questions," Michael commented, "That's the nature of learning."

And, perhaps the biggest Michael attributes that show me a path is infinite patience and compassion. There is no gotcha to their nature. No irritation that they've already answered something previously. No topic is off limits. No attitude is off limits. One can be aggressive and pugnacious, or hesitant and shy -- both will get a compassionate answer aimed at answering the actual meaning of the question.

There is no incarnated human who doesn't have some ego and false personality. There are few who cannot be annoyed -- and I've not met any of them. This is one way that I validate that Michael is something different from Troy -- he's not very Michael-like at all. I've read and reread everything that's been posted as channeled by Troy. There is no way that Troy is faking it. He simply does not have the ability to be that even natured, that non-temperamental, that knowledgeable. I can see when some of his Personality slips through -- it become obvious. I question any "opinion" expressed by Michael.

All college coursework is based on the "most general" to the "most specific," as are libraries. The most general are the survey classes -- and they give one the basic beginnings of necessary knowledge in order to ask the initial questions. And, then it spirals deeper and deeper. Michael is like that.

"...it is a teaching that supports your evolution..."

The Michael Teachings keep all us, or many of us, on our toes. No matter what we ask them, there always seems to be more and more questions to ask. I feel like we'll never get to the bottom of the barrel ...and that's probably a good thing.

Questions make all the difference in the world.

Michael also cannot teach us past what we know. It makes sense that the more we evolve and grow, the more Michael will be able to teach us. That's the difference between a good teacher and a great teacher. A great teacher mirrors and adapts to the student's ability to grow, not to their own teaching agenda. A great teacher doesn't have an agenda. They submit to ALL of the student's queries as they make no distinction between "higher" or "lower" growth/meaning, as they know ALL growth/meaning is indivisible.

The answers always grow out of the questions.

If a student wants a "better" answer, it behooves (I love that word!) the student to create a "better" question. Much of the work of the student is done, just by preparing the question. If we know how to look, the "answer" can always be glimpsed in the question.

I always feel like I'm grappling with the Michael Teachings, so yes, as Maxim mentioned, the sense of comfort and sanctuary within the community is greatly appreciated. It is comforting to know you have company as you're trying to make sense of something, ...or in my case (it seems most days), everything.

Ha!  Yeah, it does for sure...but interesting that they would say that the teaching is more for evolution than it is for comfort.  They don't teach so that we can reach some kind of false-security-endpoint.

Now you tell me!!!!!!

Actually, all the overleaf material, roles, soul age.... just having a tool to get some perspective on self and others does bring some comfort and sanctuary, not to mention the community.
