Checking costs of renting a minivan from Union Station in DC on Thursday, April 26 and returning to Dulles airport on Monday, April 30.  Right now with my USAA discount, the rental for all 4 days is $281, not including gas.  And there are probably fees and stuff.  The minivan fits 7 people.  

I'm thinking at this point from Washington DC to Seven Oaks there will be 6 people: Me (Ann), Troy and Bobby, Martha, and Jana.   Then, we can pick up Cyprus  @ Dulles on our way. 

I need to get back to Chicago on Monday, and I'm flying out of Dulles.  Since i actually have to work on Tuesday morning. I'm fine with making the car reservations, but if someone finds a better deal where we can accommodate people, that will be great.  I've made my hotel and 7 Oaks reservations and unlike last year, I will be there!

If there are US Civil War sites near Seven Oaks, I may want to venture there on Sunday afternoon.

I will be in DC Tuesday night through Thursday morning.  Jana, please email me at anla.hem AT (@) gmail.com so we can eventually arrange to meet, regardless of what happens.  I have a personal family history agenda which is tied in to US Civil War history, but I am thrilled that you want to spend time in the capitol.  I am so excited to meet you.

@Ann, that sounds great! Dividing the cost of the van 5 or 6 ways seems doable! BF, Cyprus, and I will be covering at least half of it! Maybe more, if I can swing it. Cyprus will actually be meeting us in D.C. Thursday morning to ride from there. And count us in for leaving with you from 7Oaks. We have to get back to D.C. for a return home as early as possible Monday.

I'm getting so nervous and excited!

Am I the designated van driver? :)  I'd also like to come to DC on Tuesday.  I heard something about a good deal on a hotel there for a couple of nights but no one's given me any details (Troy!). I'd suggest we cap it at 6 as there's also luggage for 6.... I've driven bigger things than a minivan but it's not my favorite thing to do.

Ann, do you also want to get a car for the first couple of days? Or are we better off with public transport & cabs in DC?
