WE CREATE THE GATHERING

Some of you have had experience with these gatherings, and some of you will be new to them, so I thought I'd bring a few things to the table for discussion.

Everyone gets a chance to offer up a topic, class, discussion, workshop, etc. Everyone. These events are not centered around the channels, so if you have a specialty, no matter what it is (it doesn't have to even be spiritual or metaphysical), bring it! Don't be shy!

I love that channels and students are considered one and the same, and as valuable as each other. I do love that.

WHAT MIGHT YOU OFFER?

So, my first question is to ask what some of you might be interested in offering up?  It can be an actual class, workshop, topic discussion, or it can be something like bringing goods to sell, share, trade. What might you be bringing to the gathering?

CHANNELS WON'T BE CHANNELING

Before attending my first gathering, it was made clear to me that offering up a group channeling event was discouraged, since past events of such things have not been interactive enough, and because "Open Space Technology" doesn't really lend itself to channeling, since people can mingle, move around, come and go as they please, etc. It was put to me that people did not want to just sit around listening to a channel. Apparently, this was done a couple of times over the years, and they have been boring as hell to most who attended.

I find this lack of expectation on the channels to be extremely awkward and uncomfortable, but I am also glad not to be expected to channel in that environment. It's true that the current mayhem that is in place for how the weekend unfolds is both beautiful and liberating, but also far from supportive of channeling.

Over the years, I have heard more and more people commenting about how bizarre it is that we have such expensive gatherings, but with proportionally minimal Michael Teachings involved, and absolutely no channeling involved. I had resolved last year that I would be brave and offer up a channeling event at the next gathering! But that's not going to happen.

Even when we've had a smaller group, the afternoon of our presenting our ideas, and the subsequent voting on those ideas, and then the finalizing of the schedule, can take hours. No matter how thoroughly this process is explained, people get impatient, agitated, confused, and overwhelmed. It always works out, but it's often a mess along the way. That has to be taken in stride, though, when using this format. And now, this year, the event has exploded into a huge gathering, and not only would holding a channeling event in the "Open Space" already be difficult, but now we've even been encouraged not to offer any classes or discussions, because the fewer the options, the easier to finalize the schedule for the event.

These gatherings are uber-expensive, and I am amazed that so many, so eagerly, dive into these events with these exorbitant costs involved, and with nothing more than a meeting place secured. I am as fascinated by it, and as in awe of it, as I feel awkward and uncomfortable about it! lol

Hence, my sharing this background so you understand why there aren't any group channeling events at these gatherings. I would love to offer that up, but it's discouraged and the setting and format are just not supportive of this. I don't know if other channels have been told the same thing, and I know there are conflicting ideas among the organizers, but these things have been made clear to me every year by Ed.

But we can offer up anything else, of course,... interactive, and as ourselves.

WHAT MIGHT I OFFER?

So, obviously, I'm not going to attend and NOT offer up something. People can vote my offering off the schedule, if they aren't interested, so it makes sense to ask you what you might be interested in. Before I work out some of my own ideas, I wanted to hear from you.

What would you look forward to having as a discussion, topic, workshop from me? ANY ideas would be helpful.

PRIVATE SESSIONS

I thought about offering mini-group sessions that could be held on my own terms, but I think this would be rather rude, since it would defeat the point of such an open weekend, and it would naturally exclude others.

I may be able (and up to) offering Private Sessions, which many channels do offer up in lieu of the lack of public channeling. I never like to offer these up while on these trips because I am in such high-energy, uber-present, hyper-social mode, it's hard for me to get into full trance and separate myself away from the gathering. But I might offer these up this year. These would be offered up as an additional fee, of course, and highly limited in availability, but could be done.

Would you be interested in private sessions?

I've very excited to hear from you guys so I can help make this event as fulfilling as possible!

Ok weighing in....I don't think a small group channeling would be rude and could really be much like our pofs. What would be interesting to me is that rather than "discussing" someone's take on various subjects channelled by.....whomever.....it brings the "Guys" to the party so to speak and would be more like the original small group (albeit with the multiple session consistancy, though we here have a certain sense of that element even if only virtually...... since we had small group break-outs last year and we were able to pick and choose what interested each of us......perhaps if it could be done like a real round table discussion let's say a topic where there becomes active discussion that is more conversational.....it seems there are some smaller spaces available.
I'd be up for a shared hour idea, too. Maybe like a Buddy Pass.....

@Toni, I'm confused. Are you talking about putting multiple channeling groups on the schedule as part of the weekend events, or are you talking about doing something like mini-groups in place of what would normally be private sessions? I couldn't offer these up for the main events of the weekend, but in place of private sessions, I may be able to, if I end up offering them.

Oh yeah, I can see that - a bunch of Sages sitting around talking so much that Michael hardly gets to speak.

Remind me what your talk was on last year - not the one in the dining area about Old Souls and overleaves, but the other one.  I remember it was very well received and of many those who attended commented to me how much they liked it.  And some of those people seemed surprised by how good they thought it was!

You have a lot of really good, solid Michael material that may be "old hat" to TLE regulars, but would be great for something like this.  I'll try and think of some!

@Martha, that was on the 9 Realities. And thanks!!

Hi Troy -- Probably each channel who wants to will have a time slot all to themselves in which they can do whatever they want, whether channeling or not. It would be wise for the channels to get a sense of what subjects or activities, or whatever, people want most, of course. Because there are a lot of channels and not so many time slots, it is very okay if any of the channels choose not to make a presentation.

In the past there hasn't been much channeling actually done at the EC gathering. The first two times we had Shepherd and JP and they were leaders. Much of the time they were channeling going around a circle with personal questions and it was pretty boring to sit on hard chairs waiting and waiting. After that we said, we're all equals as students and we don't need a leader, let the channels come and participate as peers, and that worked a lot better.

We don't have a problem with the channels channeling to groups, but most of them in the past including Troy have preferred not to. It works this way: virtually all the MT material there is already exists in writing somewhere and it doesn't need to be rechanneled for a group of people who might not be familiar with it. The more efficient thing would be for people to read and study extensively and use the gathering sessions for something new. Similarly, personal and private channeling is best done privately. And when it comes to existing MT material a channel can talk or teach about it perfectly well without channeling, and often more easily.

What you could do, if you want to actually channel, and what I think would be a good use of time, would be to have someone collect general-interest questions for you, and you or others pick out the best ones, and then channel the answers, and maybe take follow-up questions. Have them be new and interesting material not already in your Library, of course.

But whatever you do with your time is up to you :)

All the best, Ed

@Ed, thank you for taking time to explain this in more detail. It's been confusing to hear from one side that people wish there was channeling, but also that it's discouraged. I understand the logic here, and I also appreciate the encouragement to use a time slot however we choose.

For me, it's not that I prefer not to channel, it's just that I've been intimidated by being new to the gatherings, and then having to overcome knowing that several people would rather I not be there, and then the obstacles inherent in the set up. And good ol' self-deprecation! Whether leading a discussion or channeling, I am terrified and nervous no matter what! lol So it's been a blessing not to have any pressure to deliver, and despite the awkwardness of it all, I really REALLY appreciate that.

I just wanted people to know these background scenarios because so many have expressed disappointment in the events regarding the lack of channeling and Michael material. I think maybe it would be a good idea to make some of that even clearer in the documentation and invitations so that everyone understands.

Thanks for helping to clarify this, Ed. That was very nice of you to take the time to do that!

Mini breakout groups as options in addition to the main schedule. We get such great in depth info during our pofs andvtopic chats. When everyone. 's questions get the M's going deeper and deeper into a subject that it becomes a topical conversation with them, not the boring ( except to the questioner..lol. )solely personal questions. Your session Troy on the NineRealities blew me away and since I never get to make it to any of our workshops (since I *always* grrrrr have to work on weekends )something similar would be of great value to me( and others) as an offering. I cpuld see it as a two part, one the channelong and the other half ( so *you* could participate, too ) would be a study/discussion of the earlier session. We get our transcripts quickly if we coild figure a taping sysytem...maybe with a dragon naturaltype system? Don't kmow...anyway.......just putting the idea into the pot. These events are too expensive for me to only sit and listen to someone's "interpretayion of what the M's have taught. To bring to the Gathering some of the immediacy of their teaching as ALive Teaching....speaks to me as they have prented themselves as Teachers. But maybe if we do the TLE People idea this idea could be offered their if you feel that tomoffer it to the OldGuard is too intimidating , or boring to those attendees....xoxoxoxo

@Toni, okay, it's time for you to get an external keyboard for your iPad. That was like running an obstacle course of typos to read what you intended to say. LOL Check this out: SKINNY or WRITER 2

@Toni, I'm teasing you, and I don't mean to distract from the conversation, but if it helps, make sure you are typing in landscape mode, and if you need to scroll, it's done using two fingers. Just touch with two fingers, and slide. That should help! I'm not sure, but I also think that if you press and hold so that the cursor/magnifier pops up, you can slide up beyond the current view to lines that have scrolled off. Another tip: if you want to thumb-type, just drag your thumbs apart and the keyboard will split (this hides the text box a bit, but just grab the corner of the keyboard and slide it up, or just minimize it to check your text before sending.)

Hee hee....I knew you were joshin', but did check out the two keyboard cases....looked pretty cool. Maybe I can spare a few pennies. Really do need to get a keyboard, as my old Cadence mate, Ann (Grace Fell)has been kickin' my ass in me dreams saying"get back to work, you lazy slut, you...lol
