Should these continue each week, or do you find they are redundant and unnecessary? Considering the lack of responses to each post, I can't tell if the lack of response in the newsletter thread is because the newsletter automatically takes everyone to all of the other threads, or because it's just not useful or necessary. I know a couple of people liked the first one, but in order to keep these up each week, I do want to make sure they are actually useful, and not just more idealistic work in my week.
Let me know! Thanks, gang!
Permalink Reply by Ulla Sarmiento on January 30, 2012 at 2:05pm I liked the "daily digests" (automatically emailed) better, because it had the direct links to the threads I was curious to read more about.
This is a beautiful, fancy-looking newsletter alright, but somehow it is harder to navigate to the actual discussions, because it's so "busy" looking or doesn't give the actual verbage that starts the threads? If it's a lot of work to do, then I'd say ??
Just my 2 cents worth.

Permalink Reply by TROY on January 30, 2012 at 3:15pm @Ulla, you should still be receiving the daily digests. That's a separate thing and automated. The Week wasn't intended to replace that, but was mostly to be more personal, give more information, and encourage interaction. The links from each reference in the newsletter are direct links to the threads, so I'm not sure what you mean about the newsletter being more complicated and difficult to navigate, because it's just as text-heavy as the digests and the links take you straight to what it references, so if you can elaborate, that would be great. Otherwise, this isn't THAT big of a deal, so if no one cares about receiving these, I have no problem scrapping it. I'm an idealist, so I have way more ideas than are necessary, and feedback helps! Thanks!

Permalink Reply by Nicholas on January 30, 2012 at 3:32pm I like this weekly digest, Troy. Did not respond because I followed-through w/ links in the digest. No need to respond here. I don't think this digest is NECESSARY, but it is a nice addition that does what you intend:-)

Permalink Reply by Geraldine B on January 30, 2012 at 3:38pm Troy -- I doubt that Newsletters will ever generate all that much commenting. The purpose is to reach all members, many who have never signed up for the digests and/or those who don't make regular trips to the website. They are useful not only as recaps of a week, but as advance warning for upcoming events. I do know that even with many ongoing regular Michael students, they don't really pay attention to all of the info that's included on the home page. This gives them a chance for getting timely reminders. Consider it a "community-building" labor.
Hmmmm . . .I just checked my email and do not see that I received a notification of the newsletter (it's not in my trash). If you're not sending it out to all members, you should.
I like the fact that you include a Michael quote in each one. You never know what might trigger someone into reading further as the quote resonates with them. Few have deeply read everything that is on the website or in the library. It can be daunting.
As we work to develop new reports, or new events, the Newsletters are a good way of giving more information about them. It's possible that twice-a-month might work better eventually; however, I wouldn't assume that lack of comments means lack of usefulness for the more disengaged.
Speaking as a Sage, I just go with the flow whenever I write something. Some will read it. Most won't. Some may comment, most won't. But, there is always a bigger audience than me alone. I see right now that this has had 58 views -- that's in addition to whomever might read it only as an email.
Permalink Reply by Ulla Sarmiento on January 30, 2012 at 3:56pm I have not been receiving the digests for a while -- so I thought the Newsletter replaced them!? That means my problem is with TimeWarner's email service again...ever since they took over the bankrupt/corrupt Adelphia's business in our area...ugh!
I agree with everything Geraldine pointed out -- it's a community outreach effort, which is probably worth (your) while.

Permalink Reply by Bobby on January 30, 2012 at 5:14pm Ulla, consider signing up for a gmail account(free) and then change your settings to auto-notify your TimeWarner email account when any email comes into the gmail account. Change your email addy on TLE to your gmail email address and then your problem will probably be solved. I don't think it's just your Timewarner email address. I stopped getting notifications at my yahoo address so I did just what I described above.

Permalink Reply by Martha on January 30, 2012 at 6:03pm I got TWO emails with the newsletter! One was a notification that Troy started a discussion, and the other was the email to all TLE members.
And I like the newsletter. I read the site pretty much every day, but sometimes things go by quickly, or I get busy, so the newsletter is nice but not necessary for a "regular".
I think Geraldine is absolutely right about the community building - it's a good idea.

My question would be does the time spent serve you? Does it connect you with your creation and expression.... is essence hanging out with you or are you pushing your way through it. Being a sage I bet there is a desire to feel the connection to the audience.
What I like about this place is that it exists mainly in the realm of thought in which I can learn and connect and contribute. On the other hand what would be nice is a little more tangibility.... to know and see the participants in the flesh. I know you have gone in the tangibility direction with things like the secret santa and the opportunity to watch you work and the ask a channel... even the tremendous amount of info you have offered the world has a bit of tangibility.
Several years ago a young woman started... no doubt an idealist.... a We are All One day. She got people in various parts of the world carrying out celebrations. I resonated with her idealism. My greatest participation was on one of such days in which I ran into a couple of people I'd see hiking in the same area I hiked and instead of just the usual hello, I told them it was we are all one day which gave me an excuse to hug them. After a few years it seemed the woman grew weary of the effort put out by her versus the response from the "world" and wondered if she should continue... the tipping point hadn't been reached. I emailed asking her if her efforts were fulfilling in themselves.... was she following her bliss... or was it a bother in which case there would be no reason to continue. After that year I never got any more notices for we are all one day.
Permalink Reply by Ulla Sarmiento on January 30, 2012 at 10:16pm Bobby, would you believe that I have done that several times now with Time Warner -- they still manage to f*ck it up!? LOL
But as you suggested, I'll use my gmail instead...Thanks!
