NEW responses added to Ask A Channel! Questions like:

  • What is up with different channels receiving different, conflicting sets of Overleaves?
  • With the concept of "sliding" Overleaves, do we really only have one set of Overleaves, then?
  • Can or Does Michael choose not to respond sometimes?
  • What is your relationship like with Michael?
  • Would Michael go even deeper and more detailed if ordering a second round on an Essence Report?

WHAT DOES MICHAEL SAY?

Exploring relevant topics from the archives in A Michael Teachings Library:

Michael, on "Being Yourself."

[QUESTION] Last week you talked on TLE radio about it getting uncomfortable for older souls around feeling “authentic”. This is something I am currently working on. It feels wrong somehow to not be myself, especially at work, or social settings, but then if I am completely myself in all situations then I out myself as being “not normal”. And it’s hard to have to deal with that over mundane issues, seems like it would add unnecessary complexity to some aspects of life. Can you elaborate on this issue?

[Michael Entity] This is a common dilemma for the Older Souls and is rooted in what we refer to as Self-Karma, the internal divisions within the self that seek resolution. This particular Self-Karma can be described as a battle between honest expression and censorship. To most Older Souls, censorship feels repulsive, and this is amplified for the Expressive Roles. In fact we would be hard-pressed to find any valid Old Soul who supported any form of censorship. Censoring oneself as a means to “fit in” feels like one is a “walking lie,” or liar, and enforcing censorship upon others is something we have never seen an Old Soul impose.

How others see you has no bearing on who you are. It is not always a matter of integrity in expression that your Being be clearly reflected back to you through those around you. In fact, being able to adapt to certain social contexts is a skill implemented by the Older Soul (begrudgingly, but a skill, nonetheless,) and not a curse. The feeling of “not being yourself” has no bearing on your levels of honesty, nor your integrity of Being.

Ultimately, all fragments extant will find themselves in contexts where they can say, “This is who I am,” and other contexts where they say, “This is who I must be.” In those instances where one feels one “must be,” it would then be up to you to determine if this is a context worth sustaining in your life, or if it is time to move from that context.

For many, the “must be” context is required for the self to draw an income, maintain peace in a relationship, fulfill responsibilities, etc. Many fragments “must be” a parent, even when they do not want to be. Many fragments “must be” at work, even when they do not want to be. The experience in sustaining these contexts, even through those bad days, is the implementation of your higher perspective, or manifesting of Essence, since you can see the payoff and the necessity of your choice. In those instances that you have decided that the context is worth it, then it would do you well to recognize that you have made an honest choice, ironically upholding the integrity of your Being, your soul and personality, since you know this is a context that gives back to you in a way that is valuable for other areas where you feel you “can be yourself.”

Eventually, the Personality will find little discrepancy in itself between one context and another, especially as one owns the fact that those contexts are being sustained by choice, even if only “for now.” We will also note that every fragment can find at least one other fragment in which to confide and “be herself” in any context where one feels limited.

This relationship is one that can be found with some amount of discernment and patience, provided one is not being held captive and against one’s will, which is a karmic situation, not a situation of choice.

Should these continue each week, or do you find they are redundant and unnecessary? Considering the lack of responses to each post, I can't tell if the lack of response in the newsletter thread is because the newsletter automatically takes everyone to all of the other threads, or because it's just not useful or necessary. I know a couple of people liked the first one, but in order to keep these up each week, I do want to make sure they are actually useful, and not just more idealistic work in my week.

Let me know! Thanks, gang!

I liked the "daily digests" (automatically emailed) better, because it had the direct links to the threads I was curious to read more about.

This is a beautiful, fancy-looking newsletter alright, but somehow it is harder to navigate to the actual discussions, because it's so "busy" looking or doesn't give the actual verbage that starts the threads? If it's a lot of work to do, then I'd say ??

Just my 2 cents worth.

Ulla

@Ulla, you should still be receiving the daily digests. That's a separate thing and automated. The Week wasn't intended to replace that, but was mostly to be more personal, give more information, and encourage interaction. The links from each reference in the newsletter are direct links to the threads, so I'm not sure what you mean about the newsletter being more complicated and difficult to navigate, because it's just as text-heavy as the digests and the links take you straight to what it references, so if you can elaborate, that would be great. Otherwise, this isn't THAT big of a deal, so if no one cares about receiving these, I have no problem scrapping it. I'm an idealist, so I have way more ideas than are necessary, and feedback helps! Thanks!

I like this weekly digest, Troy.  Did not respond because I followed-through w/ links in the digest.  No need to respond here.  I don't think this digest is NECESSARY, but it is a nice addition that does what you intend:-)

Troy -- I doubt that Newsletters will ever generate all that much commenting. The purpose is to reach all members, many who have never signed up for the digests and/or those who don't make regular trips to the website. They are useful not only as recaps of a week, but as advance warning for upcoming events. I do know that even with many ongoing regular Michael students, they don't really pay attention to all of the info that's included on the home page. This gives them a chance for getting timely reminders. Consider it a "community-building" labor.

Hmmmm . . .I just checked my email and do not see that I received a notification of the newsletter (it's not in my trash). If you're not sending it out to all members, you should.

I like the fact that you include a Michael quote in each one. You never know what might trigger someone into reading further as the quote resonates with them. Few have deeply read everything that is on the website or in the library. It can be daunting.

As we work to develop new reports, or new events, the Newsletters are a good way of giving more information about them. It's possible that twice-a-month might work better eventually; however, I wouldn't assume that lack of comments means lack of usefulness for the more disengaged.

Speaking as a Sage, I just go with the flow whenever I write something. Some will read it. Most won't. Some may comment, most won't. But, there is always a bigger audience than me alone. I see right now that this has had 58 views -- that's in addition to whomever might read it only as an email.

I have not been receiving the digests for a while -- so I thought the Newsletter replaced them!? That means my problem is with TimeWarner's email service again...ever since they took over the bankrupt/corrupt Adelphia's business in our area...ugh!

I agree with everything Geraldine pointed out -- it's a community outreach effort, which is probably worth (your) while.

Ulla, consider signing up for a gmail account(free) and then change your settings to auto-notify your TimeWarner email account when any email comes into the gmail account.  Change your email addy on TLE to your gmail email address and then your problem will probably be solved.  I don't think it's just your Timewarner email address.  I stopped getting notifications at my yahoo address so I did just what I described above.

I got TWO emails with the newsletter! One was a notification that Troy started a discussion, and the other was the email to all TLE members.

And I like the newsletter.  I read the site pretty much every day, but sometimes things go by quickly, or I get busy, so the newsletter is nice but not necessary for a "regular".

I think Geraldine is absolutely right about the community building - it's a good idea.

Ditto.

My question would be does the time spent serve you?  Does it connect you with your creation and expression.... is essence hanging out with you or are you pushing your way through it.  Being a sage I bet there is a desire to feel the connection to the audience.

What I like about this place is that it exists mainly in the realm of thought in which I can learn and connect and contribute.  On the other hand what would be nice is a little more tangibility.... to know and see the participants in the flesh.    I know you have gone in the tangibility direction with things like the secret santa and the opportunity to watch you work and the ask a channel... even the tremendous amount of info you have offered the world has a bit of tangibility.

Several years ago a young woman started... no doubt an idealist.... a We are All One day.  She got people in various parts of the world carrying out celebrations.  I resonated with her idealism.  My greatest participation was on one of such days in which I ran into a couple of people I'd see hiking in the same area I hiked and instead of just the usual hello, I told them it was we are all one day which gave me an excuse to hug them.  After a few years it seemed the woman grew weary of the effort put out by her versus the response from the "world" and wondered if she should continue... the tipping point hadn't been reached.  I  emailed asking her if her efforts were fulfilling in themselves.... was she following her bliss... or was it a bother in which case there would be no reason to continue.  After that year I never got any more notices for we are all one day.

Bobby, would you believe that I have done that several times now with Time Warner -- they still manage to f*ck it up!? LOL

But as you suggested, I'll use my gmail instead...Thanks!
